Rules & Guidelines

MAJORS

Games are 6 innings long. If the score is tied after 6, extra innings are played until there is a winner. A tie game can be called in the case of a loss of light / safety issue.

Each team will field 9 and bat 10. Teams can rotate which player doesn't play the field as long all players were in the original lineup. Once a player not in the original 10-batter lineup enters the game - either at the plate or in the field - the player being replaced cannot re-enter the game (except in the case of injury).

All players must be wearing their team uniform in order to be eligible to play in an official game.

As in past years, phased pitching will be implemented, which works like this -

Game 1 (4/15) - Kids pitch 1x thru the opposing batting order. Coach takes over when leadoff hitter comes up for a second time.

Game 2 (4/22) - Kids pitch 2x thru the opposing batting order OR (3) full innings whichever comes first. Coach takes over when leadoff hitter comes up for a third time OR at beginning of the 4th inning.

Game 3 (4/29) - Kids pitch (4) full innings. Coach pitches final (2).

Starting in Game 4 (5/6) thru the remainder of the season, your pitchers pitch the entire game.

Pitcher Inning Limits - Each pitcher cannot exceed (6) innings pitched over an 8-day span - if your pitcher goes (6) innings in a game, they cannot pitch the following Saturday. If they pitch (3) innings in a game, they are eligible to pitch (3) innings the following Saturday.

*An exception to this are weeks when weeknight games are played. During that week, each pitcher can pitch a maximum of (9) innings over the 8-day span. This also applies in the case of rained-out games that are rescheduled for a weeknight.

*All pitchers begin with a fresh innings slate once the playoffs start.

Hit-by-Pitch Limit - Once a pitcher hits their 3rd batter in a game - they must be replaced.

Stealing - Beginning in Game #4, each team is allowed (1) steal attempt per inning. That attempt can be used as a result of a Coach calling for the steal or a player deciding to steal on their own.

Once a steal has been attempted, the play is live - meaning all runners on base can advance until the play is blown dead. Regardless of the success of the base-advance attempt, that team has used their steal attempt for the inning.

There will be NO leading permitted. A runner can attempt to steal once the ball has crossed the plate, or hit the dirt. A team whose base-runners break early will be given (1) warning. After the warning is issued, any runner on that team who leads will be called out.

Run Limits - A 5-run limit per inning will be in effect until the final (6th) inning and any extra innings that are played.

*In the playoffs, there will be no run limits in ANY innings.

MINORS

Games are 5 innings long. If the score is tied after 5, extra innings are played until there is a winner.

All players must be wearing their team uniform in order to be eligible to play in an official game.

A maximum of (3) coaches per team will be allowed on the field during gameplay.

Each team will have (12) players in their batting lineup. Once a player in the opening lineup is replaced (either at bat or on the field), they cannot re-enter the game (except in case of injury or another emergency).

If a team has fewer than 10 players attend a game - an automatic out will be called following the at-bat of the team's 9th hitter.

*This rule addresses the imbalance when one team has their full roster of players for a game, while their opponent has far fewer - allowing that teams strongest hitters to bat more often.

*The game cannot end on an automatic out. If a team's phantom 10th batter slot comes up with 2 outs in the final inning of a game, the hitting team's leadoff batter will hit next without a penalty being assessed.

Teams will play (9) players in the field - substitution patterns are up to each team's coaches, but every player in the lineup should play at least 2 innings in the field if possible. The (9) fielders must all be players currently in the team's batting lineup.

*In Game One (4/15), there will be no called balls or strikes. Batters can only strike out on (3) swinging strikes, and there will be no walks or pitch limit per batter.

Starting in Game Two (4/22), baseball rules take effect - balls and strikes will be called.

All MINORS games will be caught by a current MAJORS player who will be doing the best they can. Sometimes the play will be made, sometimes it won't. All part of the game.

*When a Play is Dead - A play will not be declared over until the ball is in possession of the fielding team's position pitcher - NOT ARYA. Once an infielder OR the player fielding the pitcher position has the ball - and NO runners are actively advancing on the basepaths - they can ask the umpire to call the play over. Until that occurs, the play is still alive and any runners on base can advance accordingly.

Run Limits - A 5-run limit per inning will be in effect until the final (5th) inning and any extra innings that are played.

*In the playoffs, there will be no run limits in ANY innings.
